Lord Perry Patterns

Historical & Specialized Patterns for fashion dolls

Sheila Galindo-Designer

I started sewing at the age of five and made most of my clothes well into adulthood. I always loved dressing dolls and made many clothes for the dolls of my own girls. I have dressed dolls for about 25. I discovered the fun of dressing Barbie and marketing my One Of A Kind dolls at Boutiques and doll shows such as China Doll, Golden Gate, and Nancy Jo Antique and Doll shows where I developed a rather large client base. I discovered that I liked working with period costume of the time frame from 1750 to 1915. I took special pride in dressing Ken dolls in period costume. Several of my designer dolls are featured in the Kathy Moreau Doll Museum in Paris. I have also been a featured artist in doll publications and Barbie shows.

I collected many patterns from several different designers but especially liked the patterns produced by Lord Perry Patterns. I used many of their patterns when creating my own interpretations. Geneva White, the owner and chief designer for the company, invited me to perform quality assurance on newly released patterns. She liked my work so much that she then invited me to design patterns for men fashion dolls. I designed "Charles Rex", a Restoration period costume, and "1812", a Napoleonic period piece.

I am still an avid sewer, though my skills have been employed in quilt shops for the past 8 years where I also teach quilting techniques. I enter quilts in competition where I have won Best of Show, Peoples Choice Awards, etc. I love making quilts although I will always enjoy my success as a doll fashion designer.

On a personal note, I have lived in San Juan Bautista for 35 years with my now retired husband, and where I happily reared our four children. Three of them live nearby and my oldest son lives in Australia.
